Oxnard College Names Steve Hernandez Head Baseball Coach

Coach Hernandez will become the eighth head coach in the history of Oxnard College Baseball, following Jerry White, George Peraza, Lindsay Meggs, Dave Taylor, Chris Stevens, Pat Wood, and Jon Larson.
“I am looking forward to continuing the great tradition of Oxnard College Baseball,” commented Coach Hernandez. “I played and graduated from OC, I grew up in Oxnard so I really know what many of our players go through to transfer and have success at the next level.”
Coach Hernandez started with the Condors in 1990 as a player for two years, and then moved on to Chico State where he played and received his BA in Social Sciences. He received his Master's in Education from National University.
He started his coaching career at Urban High School and then became the Head Coach at Carlmont High School, with a stint as coach of the Bay Area Rams and San Francisco Seals. From 2002-2005 Coach Hernandez has been the Assistant Coach for Sierra College, the Alexandria Beetles (Northwoods League) and for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots (Alaska Baseball League).
Coach Hernandez then moved on to become the Head Coach at Pacifica High School (2003-2007). As the coach, they set school records for most wins by a team, team batting average, team stolen bases, and team runs scored.
From 2008-2013 Steve coached in the Hawaiian Collegiate League and was also with the Conejo Oaks from 2013-2017
