New Leader in the Home Run 30 Rankings #5--It's Fresno City
And in the fifth week of the CCCBCA Home Run 30 Rankings (Feb. 16-22), we have a new #1--the last of the undefeated teams in Fresno City College.
The Rams are 14-0 after their 3-game sweep of Porterville that marked the beginning of their Central Valley Conference schedule.
Santa Ana continues to be on a roll and it climbs to #2 as the top South team, Ohlone, despite its first loss v. Citrus, hold on to #3, followed by a streaking Cypress that bolted 13 spots for the #4 position.
Palomar fell slightly to #5, Glendale stays at #6 as does San Joaquin Delta at #7, then its Santa Rosa making a massive leap 12 slots to #8, followed by El Camino staying firm at #9 and Modesto doing the same at #10 to round out the elite group thus far.
The Orange Empire continues to be red-hot overall as Golden West drives up 10 rungs on the ladder to #13, Irvine Valley fell out of the Top 10 to #14, Fullerton jets up 13 spots to #17, Saddleback moves up two to #23, and Orange Coast takes an elevator up six floors to #24.
The tumble was steep for previous #1 West Valley in losing all three games last week as it dropped all the way down to #19. Five teams fell out of the Home Run 30 and three joined in #26 Feather, #27 Lassen and #29 Mt. San Jacinto.
State-leading offense Antelope Valley and its .352 team batting average and 13.4 average runs per game is knocking on the door of the top 10 at #11.
