SoCal Week #5 Player/Pitcher Of The Week: State RBI Leader Steinhurst, Mt. SAC Shutout Performer Bilvado
Antelope Valley College sophomore transfer leftfielder Jayden Steinhurst and Mt. San Antoinio freshman righthander Tomas Bilvado are Weed #5 (Feb. 16-22) CCCBCA SoCal Player/Pitcher of the Week.
Last week, Steinhurst, from Quartz Hill High and Palmdale, was one of several Marauders who had a big offensive week as he batted .583 with four doubles, one triple and 10 RBI over three AVC routs. He is now the state leader in RBI with 25 in just 15 games. Nineteen of his ribbies have come in the last two weeks alone.
The 6-foot-7 Steinhurst came to AVC after a banner All-Western State Conference South Division First Team frosh season in 2024 at College of the Canyons, where he slugged 10 home runs with 33 RBI.
The 6-foot Bilvado, from San Marino High, hurled a complete-game, 4-hit shutout with no walks 10 strikeouts in 2-0 Mt. SAC win over LA Harbor. Bilvado fired 64 of his 87 pitches for strikes. He recorded 1-2-3 innings in the first, third, eighth and ninth.
